HANDLE WITH CARE: THE LOVELY BAREFOOT SOS BARRIER HAND CREAM AND SAY NO TO AVEENO

Having been using an Aveeno hand cream I recently checked the ingredients to find harmful components such as Distearyldimonium Chloride and Aluminium Starch Octenylsuccinate. With ingredients that have been proven to be skin, eye and lung irritants and toxic to organs, the brand is far from the paragon of ‘Active Naturals’ that it’s marketed as. In fact the only ingredient I can see that remotely resembles this affinity with nature is the Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour. Very misleading – into the bin goes Aveeno! I wash my hands of you…

Price: £4
Ingredients: [FPT-0574] Aqua, Glycerin, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Isopropyl Palmitate, Paraffinum Liquidum, Cetyl Alcohol, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Dimethicone, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Paraffin, Cera Microcristallina, Stearyl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Chloride

What has been a bit of a pleasant surprise is the Barefoot Sos Barrier Hand Cream. I got this free with a Naturisimo order so get on this while you can. I’d never heard of the brand before and the packaging doesn’t exactly scream sophisticated pampering but it’s actually seriously good. It may be one for the night as it takes a while to be absorbed but once it is there’s no residue, just glorious softness! It really feels like it’s conditioning my hands. Definitely worth a try.

Price: £13

So a bit of a rant and rave; for me, Aveeno’s a no no but Barefoot Botanicals has definitely impressed me! Have you ever been disappointed by a brand that suggests it focuses on natural ingredients but really doesn’t? And is there anything else from the Barefoot range I should be trying? I’d love to hear from you.
